Visiting Professor

Faculty of Food Technology STU is a core member and has been very actively involved in all activities of the Vietnam Association of Food Science and Technology (VAFoST) - a non-governmental and non-profit social organization - to contribute to the development of Vietnam's food technology industry.

The Visiting Professor Program was an initiative proposed by Prof Luu Dzuan – executive vice president cum secretary-general of VAFoST at the IUFoST World Congress in Cape Town 2010. With a tremendous support from IUFoST’s governing council, an MOU was sign between IUFoST, VAFoST and FIFSTA in December 2010 at STU on the occasion of Fi Vietnam 2010 exhibition and international conference to officially establish the program. Since 2011, STU-Food Tech has had the privilege to be a teaching destination of nearly 20 visiting professors from Thailand, Taiwan, the UK, the US, China, Korea, Australia and India. STU-Food Tech has also coordinated guest-lecturer events to reach out to other universities with this meaningful program, such as Tien Giang University, Can Tho University, Vung Tau University, An Giang University, Dong Nai Unviersity, HUTECH, University of Food Industry, HCMC University of Industry. The visiting professorship’s reputation is echoing across the food technology education sector in Vietnam, bringing excitement and values to students of a developing country with limited access to international expertise. 

Through the lectures conducted by IUFoST visiting professors, students of STU-Food Tech and other universities benefited from this program have learned a great deal of professional knowledge and had the opportunities to improve their English. STU is proud to be the pioneer and anchor point for the success of this program. 

The Visiting Professor Program is expanding beyond STU and Vietnam borders. STU-Food Tech has been approached by public universities in Vietnam who would like to be regular lecture points for the visiting professors, as well as other universities in ASEAN such as Catholic University, Indonesia.
