Disabled student determined on IT dream

Update 31/05/2013 - 08:58:55 AM (GMT+7)

Born with cerebral palsy, a brain disorder that affects a person’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture, Nguyen Hoang Gia Bao, from a central Vietnamese province, has never lost his hope of building a better future on education.

Bao’s mother died right after giving birth to him in 1990. Three years later, things became even worse when his father passed away following excessive work.

But he has continually followed his dream of being an IT engineer ever since, something that seems to be impossible for a person like him.

Bao managed to make it through elementary, middle and high school with the help of his uncle and friends. He was even admitted to the most prestigious high school in his home province, Quang Nam.

After graduating from an honors class there, Bao enrolled in an IT junior college in neighboring Da Nang City, and was awarded an associate’s degree with merit last year.

He was then granted automatic admission to the IT department of the Da Nang University of Technology, the biggest in central Vietnam.

The strong-willed man is now a senior at the university and keeps looking forward to fulfilling his dream one day.
