The Vietnam business arm of U.S. chipmaker Intel will present 360 scholarships worth VND2.3 billion (US$112,000) to local female students of technical majors from now until 2014.

Intel Products Vietnam said during a ceremony held Wednesday in Ho Chi Minh City that VND6.5 million ($312) will be awarded to each selected student, who must be enrolled in junior college courses in the city, Dong Nai Province, or Can Tho City.

Applicants must be in their third year at designated schools and have good academic performance together with an active record of extra-curricular activities and community service.

Those facing financial difficulty will be given high priority.

Applications will close on September 30. Detailed information can be obtained at http://www.intel.com/cd/corporate/education/apac/vie/Scholar/415968.htm or via hocbong_kythuat_intel@intel.com.

This is part of an engineering education alliance program run by Intel and a number of other partners to provide financial aid to female students while encouraging them to study technical disciplines.
