The ITPC at Saigon Technology University had sponsored a group of Troy-STU senior students to host a summer trip to Phu Quoc as their farewell event last July. The trip was so fun and interesting that the participants hardly forget about it. Their smiles and joyfulness can be found anywhere. After four years studying hard, they finally had another great time together before moving onto different directions. With the Bachelor Degree offered by one of the finest universities in the US, they are ready to join the workforce at many companies and enterprises. The trip has added one more valuable experience into their students’ life at Troy-STU campus.
Below is the reflection of a student about this wonderful trip.

Finally, the last subject was ended, and the Intake 5 peers are going to graduate. We, students of Intake 5 decided to travel to Phu Quoc, as a “goodbye” to each other. We were very excited because none of us had been there.
At 9:30 pm, our bus left the West Coach Station after all of us gathered, and had some chit-chat. Wow, look at our luggage! We tried to carry as much as possible because we did not know what might wait us ahead. Some brought many clothes while other brought a lot of food. We did not forget the school’s brochures and leaflets because that trip was an opportunity to introduce our school further. As soon as we got on the bus, we started talking and joking together. Eyes were closed, but nobody could sleep because of excitement, and the rough road, too.
The bus stopped in Kien Giang Coach Status around 5:30 am next day. The morning weather was cool and the sky was clear predicting a wonderful trip. We had breakfast, took some pictures, and dragged the luggage to the ferry, where our ship was waiting. There was strong wind and we could see birds close as we walked across the bridge.
While waiting for the ferry, we were glad to introduce our school to passengers.
Sea was calm on that day.
Phu Quoc was there, so green and clear.
We, sixteen people, took 2 caps to our hotel. “Like canned sardines” – I would say, but fun.
As soon as arriving to the hotel, we took a bath, brushed out teeth, and took a nap. Everyone was extremely exhausted after a long road.
When the sun went down, we got up, changed our clothes, and our feast began. At first, we took a walk along Dinh Cau seashore. Waves were strong as they wanted to tear a dyke apart. Never mind! Let’s start taking pictures!
The Night Market was crowded with tourists. We took a tour and bought some souvenirs. Thanks to a big brother of our group, we had a good deal. Then, we had dinner at a small restaurant on the street. Everything was fresh and delicious. After that, we separated into small groups. Some kept enjoyed seafood, some took a walk. We met an old man selling ice-cream on the street. Five-thousand Dongs only! Each of us bought three or four cones of ice-cream and enjoyed them like kids.
Oh, I forgot to introduce Oanh, our tour guide. She came to wake us up in the early morning. Bikes were hired, and we were ready to discover Phu Quoc. However, let’s eat first. It would be a waste of you came to Phu Quoc but not taste “Bún Chả Cá”. Phu Quoc is very famous for that fried fish.
The first destination was Suoi Tranh. We all were impressed by its gate. It was decorated with big stones and many trees. Trees are everywhere in Phu Quoc. They are found greenly covering hills and mountains there. It took us around thirty minutes to climb up to the spring. “Just like heaven!” – I might exaggerate but everything was clean and pure. The string was so limped that we could see its bottom. We had soaked in the cool and fresh water for an hour, before more tourists came.
Leaving Suoi Tranh, we headed to Bai Sao shore. Herring salad was famous there, and cheap, too. We also had crabs which had been bought at Ham Ninh port for lunch. After finishing the meal, we took a rest, and enjoyed a sea bath. Sea in Bai Sao was calm with many fising boats near the shore. However, some local kids told us not to bath there since we might be cut by sea creatures. Vi and I were, when we playing fighting.
All I could say about Phu Quoc is “beautiful.” On the way to our hotel, we took a road along seashore. We saw golden sunlight reflecting on water, and became speechless. It was such a gorgeous scene of nature.
Time passed like a breeze. On the third day, we visited Peal Museum and learnt about Phu Quoc’s history as well as it habitants. After that, we went through Phu Quoc National Park, headed to Suoi Tien. The road was every rough, and we got lost twice. Luckily, we made it. In order to get to Suoi Tien, we had to cross a food bridge, walk in the forest around ten minutes, and climb up to a mountain. Water in Suoi Tien was red because of the stones, but it was fine. Nothing could stop us swimming in cold and fresh water.
After watching the sun set in Ong Lang seashore, we were back to the hotel and prepared a barbecue. Hotel owners were kind to let us borrow stoves, knives, and a place to celebrate our last night. Fish, shrimps, clams, beer, music, and laughs were blended together, under the silver moonlight.
Next day, we left Phu Quoc from Ham Ninh port. Our trip ended in wishes and promises. I guess we all wish we could have more time together. It’ll be our precious memory.
Finally, I would like to send my gratitude to people who organized that wonderful trip, Quy and Duc, and all my friends joining the trip: Mi, Vi, Le, Ngan, Khuong, Tram, Hung, Nam, Triet, Giang, Vu… Moreover, I thank the school’s support, which made our trip came true.
