The Vietnamese government has chosen May 18 as National Science-Technology Day, which honors significant contributions in the field of science.
Starting this year, May 18 will be National Science-Technology Day, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Quoc Khanh announced at the opening of a science and technology week in the central city of Da Nang on Thursday.
The day is dedicated to outstanding employees involved in scientific research and technology development.
“Science Technology: Motivation for Rapid and Sustainable Development” is the main theme of the 2014 National Science-Technology Week, which is slated to take place from May 8 to 18 and will feature a wide range of activities.
Many events are scheduled to be organized during the week when universities and research institutes nationwide will let their students visit their laboratories more frequently in the hope of arousing the interest of younger generations in science and technology.
There will also be other events for visitors, especially students and science enthusiasts, to expand their knowledge through networking and attending workshops hosted by science and technology experts.
The week has gathered scientists from not only Vietnam but also the United States, Japan, Korea, Finland, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines to come and share their experiences in science and technology.
