Three sisters have made history in Vietnam by becoming probably the first triplets to make their way into the same top-tier local medical school.
Nguyen Chau Thanh, Nguyen Dan Thanh, and Nguyen Bao Thanh, 18, have passed selection tests to gain admission to the Ho Chi Minh City Medicine and Pharmacy University, a school that has trained many qualified doctors for the country.
The girls come from the southern province of Dong Nai but they were enrolled in a high school in Ho Chi Minh City.
They all feel truly happy with the result, Dan Thanh said, adding that she and Chau Thanh will opt for pharmacy while the other will choose dental medicine.
Their mother, Trinh Thi Thu Ba, said that the triplets never had to be told to study at school where they were all high-achieving students.
“They were on top throughout the years of K-12 schools,” Ba said.
They always helped each other with schoolwork, waiting for all to finish before moving on in any subject, she added.
“The three had an unwritten rule that they would do everything and make progress together,” the woman said.
This is more than rewarding for Ba as someone once came to offer to ‘buy’ her daughters when she gave birth to the triplets, thinking she would not afford to bring them up.
“I am now proud that they have grown up and so many people have come to congratulate my family on their achievement,” she said.
Chau Thanh and Bao Thanh also passed entrance exams set by the University of Economics – HCMC while Dan Thanh made it at the HCMC University of Foreign Trade. The two institutions only accept outstanding students.
“We will try our best in college so that we can get a good job upon graduation,” the girls said.
